On the way, but not there yet

I’ve gotten all of the basic components installed in the computer, but the RAID 5 that was set up before I bought the components seems to be having trouble when I boot windows. I haven’t had a chance to run FDISK due to not having a floppy installed. I tried repairing windows, but the setup CD won’t recognize the SATA drives. I knew it wouldn’t ahead of time, but just wanted to check. I need to borrow my younger brothers DVD+Floppy computer to put together an FDISK disk, and use the motherboard’s DVD to create a floppy that will contain the SATA drivers I need to repair or reinstall windows.

He’s not home at the moment, and neither he, nor my Father are answering their phones, so I’ll have to wait till tomorrow so that I can contact them, as I’m not going to use his computer without his permission. In the mean time I’m going to do some coding, and get some RP in before I install a floppy drive in my new computer, and then clean up my room from the mess of working on the computer.

Tomorrow, assuming my little bro is willing to let me use his comp, or I can borrow a friend’s for a bit, I’ll put together two disks I can use on my new computer.

Unfortunately, the video card I bought has a heat sink/fan combination that covers the slot just below it on the mother board. This means I have to loose either a PCI or PCI Express x4 port to use this card. However any card I bought to replace it would be more expensive and might have the same problem… AND I’d have to pay a restock fee of $20 on top of it. So unless I can’t get the card set up to show some good graphics, I’ll be keeping it.
